SACCI Welcomes the Opportunities of South Africa’s G20 Chairmanship
The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) welcomes South Africa’s opportunity to chair the G20 over the next 12 months.
Alongside the G20 is the big opportunity of organising the B20 to promote SA’s economic interests with the major economies of the world.
It would be imperative that South African business is organised in a fully inclusive manner to take advantage of the opportunities for the betterment of the country, the region and the African continent.
Our big challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality will require SA business to pull together without leaving other formations behind, especially black business and the small medium and ‘family-owned’ business sector as broadly represented through the chamber movement.
We are concerned about the issues raised by the Black Business Council (BBC) in its media statement and wish to urge the new leadership of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), to make every attempt to reunite SA business and revisit the charter of its own mandate and formation. To this regard, the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry will take the opportunity to play a constructive role in an effort to contribute to this unity.
