The event featured insightful discussions and practical guidance on how small and medium-sized enterprises can thrive in the current business environment. Keynote addresses from industry leaders, such as Mr. Gabriel Thumelo Mogashoa and Mr. Thinamaano Lusunzi, provided valuable insights into enterprise development and economic opportunities. The partnership between SACCI and Absa highlighted their commitment to supporting SMMEs through financial solutions and chamber services. Sessions on compliance with SARS and CIPC, market access challenges, and agro-processing entrepreneurship offered valuable information for entrepreneurs looking to grow their businesses. The event also featured a pitching competition where SMEs had the opportunity to win prizes for business development support. Transnet Annual Results Announcement and the Progress on the Recovery

On September 04, 2024, Transnet together with SACCI hosted an informative briefing on the Transnet Recovery Plan. The event began with a crucial safety briefing and evacuation procedure led by the SHEQ Representative, ensuring all attendees were well-informed about safety protocols.

Adv. Mtho Xulu, the President of SACCI, highlighted the key achievements and partnerships that have contributed to the recovery efforts. Following this, Yolisa Kani, Chief Business Development Officer at Transnet, delivered a compelling keynote address, outlining the strategic direction and goals of the recovery plan.

The agenda included a detailed overview of the recovery plan by Solly Letsoalo, Group Chief Operating Officer at Transnet. Letsoalo provided insights into the recovery plan’s core elements, setting the stage for further discussions. Monde Gqoli, General Manager of Economic Strategy, and Thabiso Dikolomela, General Manager of Strategy & Performance Management, then presented specific aspects of the plan, focusing on economic strategies and performance metrics.

The briefing concluded with a Q&A session, skillfully facilitated by Nqabakazi Tetyana, where participants had the opportunity to pose questions regarding both the recovery plan’s progress and its strategic implications. This interactive session allowed for an engaging discussion on the plan’s current status and future outlook.

 

EXPLORATORY MISSION – SHE EXPORTS TO AFRICA” hosted by the Government of Colombia and SACCI

On August 26, 2024, Hotel Sky Sandton in Johannesburg hosted the “She Exports to Africa” exploratory mission, organized by the Government of Colombia and The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This exclusive, invitation-only event aimed to strengthen business ties between Colombia and South Africa, featuring a day filled with insightful sessions and networking opportunities.

The program commenced with opening remarks from the Colombian Ambassador to South Africa, H.E. Ms. María del Rosario Mina-Rojas, and a presentation of the Free and Productive Woman Fund by Ms. Maria Fernanda Reyes. The day continued with panel discussions on business and investment opportunities, phytosanitary and sanitary requirements, and standards and quality management.

The afternoon sessions covered practical aspects of doing business, including banking services, enterprise registration, intellectual property, and digital marketing strategies. The event concluded with a private lunch and B2B meetings, connecting 24 Colombian companies with potential South African partners across various industries.

Absa Group, SACCI celebrate success of inaugural Women-in-Business Directors Training Programme

Absa Group is proud to have collaborated with the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) to sponsor the inaugural Absa-SACCI Women-in-Business Directors Training Programme, which took place from 5 July to 2 August 2024 and culminated in ten (10) women completing the programme.

The board training programme, conducted by the Institute of Directors South Africa, was aimed at identifying and nurturing women who have the potential to excel in board roles, and equipping them with the essential knowledge and skills required to thrive as successful business leaders and board members. The content covered critical areas such as governance, strategic planning, ethics, compliance and risk management.

Attendees had the opportunity to connect with other entrepreneurs and industry leaders, gaining valuable insights into what constitutes a winning pitch. The event also offered a chance to discover more about Standard Bank’s Enterprise and Supplier Development Program.

SACCI Business Breakfast: Business Finance, Compliance & Mentorship Edition in Partnership with Business Partners
