We note reports that the South African (SA)President Mr. Ramaphosa will be holding talks with the United States of America (USA) President Mr. Trump in the coming days.

We urge South Africans to not allow divisions that are not helping the country to move forward. At this time of our history, South Africans of all races and creed should take the opportunity, to unite and work together for the betterment of all our citizens and the republic, united in our diversity.

Whilst ours is a vibrant democracy, full of vitality, and this should never be discouraged, we should also be conscious of driving negative narratives and messaging, as that is counterproductive and damages South Africa’s prospects in driving the necessary investment climate, for economic growth, the elimination of poverty and unemployment, to achieve the ultimate objective of shared prosperity.

South Africa is a constitutional democracy, with a Bill of Rights. This Bill of Rights is considered by many constitutional experts as one of the best in the world in its protection of human rights. It includes critical clauses on Equality; Human Dignity; Life; Freedom and Security of the person; Freedom of religion, belief and opinion; Assembly, demonstration, picket and petition; Freedom of Association; Political Rights; Citizenship etc.

Persecuting and committing acts of genocide against any particular group on the basis of their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, culture, language, birth right, belief, conscience,  etc is a criminal act punishable by law in South Africa.

We urge those who have alleged their constitutional rights to have been violated and been victim of alleged acts of genocide and persecution on the basis of being a member of a designated group, to approach the law enforcement authorities so that investigations can take place and the perpetrators brought to book to face the full might of the law. The independence of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), and the courts is guaranteed by the constitution of the republic of South Africa.

Let’s work together, build together and avoid distractions.
